Sunday Sea Swim Club
Join me in the sea. We'll meet every Sunday at 4.30pm for a supported social swim.
A social, happy group, these sessions are designed for those of you who want to enjoy open water swimming, but just haven't quite plucked up the courage to do it, yet! Starting in September when the sea is relatively warm, this is the perfect start for those of you wanting to swim the seasons. GOOD FOR NEW STARTERS!
Come and get strong and confident. We'll spend some time coaching on the land as well as in the sea, talking about technique, safety, efficiency and open water skills.
Coryton Cove, Dawlish. There is parking on Marine Parade, then walk down to the beach, I'll meet you on the slip way on the beach.
You'll need:
- Swimming costume or wetsuit if you prefer
- Brightly coloured swim hat
- Water shoes/booties
- Tow float
- Towel and warm clothes to change in to after (loose is easiest)
- A warm coat and a hat/gloves (you'll get colder than you think!)
- A warm drink and maybe something sweet to eat
- A bag to carry your wet stuff home!
If you haven't got any of the items let me know, I have spares of most things.
You'll need to complete a pre-swim form and you must be able to swim 100m unaided (the sea is not the best place to learn to swim!)
This is a small group of only 8, perfectly formed. Starting at the beginning of September. Tickets are £10 each.
This session is led by Karen Marshall, STA Level 2 Open Water Swim Coach & Surf Life Saving GB Open Water Rescuer.
NB - if the weather is dreadful, sea conditions aren't safe or if there has been a pollution warning we may have to either postpone or change beach. If this happens I will send you a text message.
