North Cornwall Double

We swam here as a 'plan B' last year and it was so stunning that we thought we'd do something similar for 2026.
Before I start, please be aware that this is a west facing beach that can get swell. So there is a chance we may have to move it, in the case of moderate to strong north or westerly winds. I'll outline a plan B towards the bottom of the page.
2 x swims of around 1-2km depending how far each swimmer would like to cover. Mixed ability swimming group expected.
SWIM 1
Parking up at the National Trust car park at Booby's Bay (PL28 8SH, ///unpainted.waitress.valley). You then walk to Mother Ivey's Bay. We can take valuables in a secure dry bag...walking back along the road you drive into the car park along, popping across the road and joining the coastal path heading right.
We'll swim a circular route, exploring the bay. Meeting on the beach ready to swim 9.10am latest.
SWIM 2
13 minute, 4 1/2 mile drive over to Porthcothan, parking in the main car park.
Parking at the main car park in Porthcothan (PL28 8LP), you'll walk across the back of the sand dunes and join the coastal path, walking just around the corner. There we'll swim across the bay to Long Cove and complete a circular route back to the starting point.

ALTERNATIVE
In the instance of poor or unfavourable conditions, we'll pop across the coast and swim 2 stunning routes at the gorgeous Polstreath Beach....near Mevagissey. It's one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall, with easily one of the most spectacular walks onto the beach.

Location
Porthcothan, PL28 8LP
