Slow Swimming Holiday - West Cornwall

For this holiday we'd recommend staying in the Penzance area. This is a self-drive holiday. Whilst we encourage car sharing over the holiday, you'll still need access to a car. 

We've also aimed this holiday at the slow and steady crowd. With this holiday we've simply chosen a great time of year to visit...just before the school holidays. Cornwall will be quieter, the water will have warmed up nicely  and we'll simply offer the same old world class swims that we normally do. 

Swims will take place at around 10-11am on all 3 days, 2 swims on the Tuesday and Wednesday and 1 swim on Thursday morning. The second swim will take place after lunch time, anywhere from 2pm. Swims will be appox. 800-1500m in length. We finish fairly early, giving you plenty of time to relax or make local dinner plans. As with all of our holidays, we simply ask that you can comfortably cover the distance. Speed isn't really an issue (particularly on this holiday), more comfortably cover the distance. If you have any concerns please contact us direct. 

Participants will be emailed approx 2-3 days before the date of the holiday with exact times and locations for the swims. We do this as we can view an accurate forecast and plan the most spectacular (and safe) swims possible. 

For this swim we advise you to book accommodation in the Penzance area...obviously you can book accommodation further afield, it'll just require more travel. We're happy to hand out advice for accommodation on request. 

PARTICIPATION : generally attended by 70-75% women, 20-25% men for this type of holiday. Staffing tends to be 66.6% male, 33.3% female. Age groups tend to be dominated by 35-65 years. We also get people from around 20 years old to our oldest holidays attendee at around 75 years. It's normal for some swimmers to be quite nervous about participating, we get a lot of emails and phone calls. Just remember that swims are based on the conditions...particularly with our slow swimming activity, so you'll likely be swimming in flat, calm conditions.
