St Ives Leisure Centre - Masters Session
***SWIM TIME : 5.30-6.30pm***
Pool sessions and coaching. Designed to combine stroke technique and drills, with a little distance and a little pace work. Ideal for anyone looking to improve their front crawl stroke, fitness, knowledge and speed.
SWIMMING REQUIREMENTS – simply that you can comfortably swim front crawl and are confident of covering most of the session, additional strokes are handy but not essential. Please pick the appropriate session for your ability.
*This is a new service and will be adjusted as we go. We don’t expect to get the set up perfect from the start. We may well adjust the distances and intensity of the sessions (and lanes), to best suit the swimming groups/swimmers.
The coaches absolutely reserve the right to change the order of each lane and move people up and down lanes. We may also do this to fill lanes/spread swimmers out, motivate swimmers, reward effort, cater for injuries/slugish days (we all have them!) etc.

TRAINING AIDS
From time to time you'll need training aids, for various drills. If these sessions prove to be popular I'll start to get in some equipment. In the mean time, some short swim fins are handy. The short swim fins are particularly handy if you don't have the strongest kick.

COACHING
The coaches roll in these sessions is to write and facilitate the sessions, to give technical feedback and drills, adjust the sessions to suit individuals and also to motivate and push the swimmers (in certain parts of the session), to get that extra 5-10% out of the swimmer. *On that last point, I'd imagine I'll have a few swimmers that are at a more mature stage of life. Whilst I am there to push you, I don't want to cause anyone some sort of medical issue, so feel free to ignore me (or the coach on poolside), during this section of the session.
PARKING
Annoyingly, parking charge in the car park start on April 1st! Even more annoyingly, the charging period ends at 6pm! You can either park over at the residential bit across the way up Carnellis Road and over towards Porthmeor and walk over (5-10 minute walk). You can pay £9 for 'free' parking for a 3 months period (up to 3 hours at a time), £15 for 6 months (this does take a few minutes at the desk) or chance it. I'll aim to offer these sessions until at least late May...and see how the demand is like in May...
