When Molly Ambrose's son, Nick, enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2015, she joined the ranks of military moms experiencing the inevitable roller-coaster of emotions that come with being the parent of an enlisted service member. Her deep connection to her son also gave her first-hand perspective of how to support her son and others deployed from afar. A year later, Molly began sending care packages to deployed military personnel, gathering donations from family and friends to support her efforts. By 2017, she expanded her mission to include adopting local military families in need, and in 2018, she extended her support to Minnesota Veteran Homes. In 2019, Molly took another step forward by supporting the Armed Forces Service Center at Minneapolis International Airport. That same year, her son Nick became a veteran and encouraged her to elevate her work in assisting military personnel.

In 2020, Molly officially founded Semper Fi Flo as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and established a board of directors. Since then, Semper Fi Flo has made a remarkable impact—shipping over 7,500 care packages worldwide as of April 2025, supporting 128 military families, and aiding seven Veteran Homes in Minnesota.
