A Calling for the Cleansing Wind: A Journey Through Sound

Hawthorn berry tea, from a tree long associated with the heart, offers warmth.

Tree whisks bring the rustle of the forest into the room, meeting voices, cello, dombra, Tibetan singing bowls, mouth harps and flutes to share a story.

The scents of tree resins, bark and leaves fill the space, carrying attentions through a world of shifting winds, into the roots of trees, their weathered skins, way of standing through change.

A Calling for the Cleansing Wind is a sound journey, a ceremony for the times when old ways of living and relating feel increasingly fragile, inviting us to clear the ground, reconnect with our hearts, and find the light that can guide us forward.

We create space to let go, listen inwardly, and reconnect with the part of ourselves that knows how to move forward with clarity and care. This is a calling to clear the ground, tend to the light within us, and make room for new possibilities to take root.

Recommendation: please take your own mat, meditation pillow and blanket.

The space is hosted by Sense Ability, a curatorial and cultural practice creating place-responsive spaces rooted in local ecology, material culture, and heritage to cultivate regenerative cultures and environments.

The journey is held by:

Garwyn Linnell - cellist, sound practitioner, somatic therapist. His work brings together sound, the body and the plant world, and is informed by Celtic and Daoist traditions.

Joe of Sound Travels - multi-instrumentalist and throat singer whose work draws on Mongolian, Altai and Proto-Celtic ceremonial music.

Masha Segal  - placemaker, curator, filmmaker, and pirtniece (traditional Latvian healing) whose practices engage with land-based traditions and creating environments that cultivate kinship and relationship with place .
