Seremoni offers a supportive and warm community environment where all bodies are welcome - no experience needed !

NOTE: To assist with creating a container that feels safe for all, please arrive in the space before the opening & by 19:10pm.

This is an important & valuable part of the practice. We will be closing the doors to the dance space at 7:30pm.

The dance area is non-verbal & without shoes or phones, you can chat outside or after the closing circle with a lovely cuppa tea !

THE SPACE

Seremoni events are designed to feel held, spacious and nourishing;

THE GREAT HALL, CARDIGAN LOCATION

This spacious and majestic Grade II listed building in the centre of Cardigan with high ceiling and natural wooden floor, will support us to unfurl, embody and explore. 

Located in the centre of Cardigan, making it an ideal place to gather from all corners of Pembrokeshire and dance!

WHAT IS ECSTATIC DANCE ?

ED is a free-form dance practice, inviting people to connect to themselves and to others through music and movement. 

It is such a powerful, meditative practice - if offered some devotion...

MOVEMENT IS A PORTAL 

Ecstatic dance journeys are built in 'waves'.
The music begins slower, softer and without beats, gradually building into vibrant, often tribal, high-energy peaks before easing back into flow and stillness again.
These natural rhythms, derived from the 5 rhythms practice of the legendary Gabrielle Roth, invites you to open your body expression and harness your presence, exploring and liberating yourself through your unique dance.

Ecstatic dance is about turning inwards - moving in ways that feel authentic in the moment, connecting deeply with your unique self and expressing whatever arises through your dance !

It takes places over a 2-hour music set and starts and finishes with a short opening and closing circle led by a facilitator, there is a short guided embodied warm-up before the dance journey begins and a heart-felt ceremonial micro-concert after the dance.

ECSTATIC DANCE GUIDELINES

1. No talking on the dance floor. ED is a silent practice - you are welcome to communicate with others with your body language, but please keep words outside the space.

2. No shoes. Barefoot dancing helps us ground ourselves and move more freely.

3. No drugs/alcohol. ED is a conscious practice embracing presence and feeling.

4. Phone-free zone. Encouraging safety & presence. 

5. Respect self and other. We ask participants to take responsibility for themselves, but also to watch out for others and be mindful of their personal space.

£16.00 - Supported (limited availability - please only choose this option if you really need it)

£24  - Abundance (for those who wish to help a fellow dancer who is financially struggling) or on the door (depending on availability)

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC WILL THE DJ PLAY ?

ED music is eclectic and not linked to any specific genre. We book DJ's from across the UK with differing musical tastes and energies, often with live percussive elements - our dance space will always be guided with unique sounds and amazing tracks to nudge the body into motion.

Ecstatic DJ sets are curated in a ‘wave’.

The session unfolds as a carefully orchestrated musical journey - beginning gently, with ambient, down tempo sounds and building gradually into expressive and wild rhythms, before a melodic homecoming, finally settling into stillness.

Genres can include deep electronica, wild psychedelic, medicine songs, inspiring world music and delicious organic beats and downtempo tracks - after moving naturally into the live sounds of our heart-led musician to cradle us into a deep rest. 

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME ?

Not this time sorry! Children under 16 are not able to attend this event.

WHY DO DOORS CLOSE, CAN'T I JUST DROP IN ANYTIME ?

This is a held movement practice as well as a joyful experience. Arriving together helps create safety, depth and collective presence.

We ask all dancers to be in the space ready to begin at 7:10pm - cutoff time for doors closing is 7:35pm, this allows for those who have genuine reasons for being late, there to promote safety, a held container and to allow the fullest & deepest experience for all.

WHAT TO WEAR ?

Dress however you wish.

.Most dancers probably come dressed as they would for a yoga class or for a festival boogie !

Tickets are non-refundable.
If you’re unable to attend, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to a future Seremoni event.

Please note that by purchasing a ticket you agree that Seremoni is not liable for any injury or harm that you may incur at this practice/class (dancing only exactly as YOU feel to, on a traditional wooden floor) & you agree to take full responsibility of yourself, your health, your well-being and all of your belongings whilst at the session.
