Birds of Paradise - Spring Love into your World!

HOW?

A get together, as a common introduction into our sophisticated world of play. Cast yourself into colour, sensuality with finesse. This is perfect for spring fever, and to kick off summer love.

Through guided embodied practices from contact improvisation, play, emotional release and meditation. We will have a colourful bouquet of ways to connect with one another. We will become Paradise Birds. Finding the plumage of our favorite colours, and preparing for our courtship dancing. Not taking ourselves too seriously!

WHY?

You’ve sensed something powerful here: Joy is a form of resistance.

"It’s a radical act to enjoy yourself and grow with others." (Sonya Renee Taylor)

In a world that often feels isolating, choosing to be "seen" in your most authentic, wounded, and desired-filled state is the ultimate healing. It moves the needle from "self-help" to collective flourishing.

Let’s share play time as a collective. Let’s support each other in our healing processes. Let’s have fun and let’s be our most authentic version. Let’s put out the love the world needs! Let’s nourish ourselves with it and take home the feeling of connection.

WHO?

You will meet some like-minded humans who identify as queer or an ally of queerness. You are living and loving a style not yet popular.

This event is a small-group intimacy for deep and lightful connection. We will be 5-15 participants and the 2 spaceholders. Kale & Kathi are sexological embodiment practitioners with experience in facilitating sex-positive, experimental workshops together. They co-create a framework with you for safer spaces, as inclusive as possible. They empower you to explore pleasure in all forms - beyond the “sexual”. They encourage you to strengthen the awareness of your senses. They support you to get into consensual sensual encounters.

Your Guides

Kale & Kathi aren't just hosts; they are Spaceholders. Their focus on Consensual Encounters and Sexological Embodiment ensures that while the feathers might be flashy, the boundaries are rock solid.

Meet Kale!

Working as a sex therapist, sex educator, sexological bodyworker, and relationship coach, Kale brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to their practice. Currently based in Berlin, they identify as polyamorous, slutty, a sex worker, kinky, genderfluid, and queer. With a background in education, science, creative art, and sexual health, Jeremy holds multiple university degrees and has facilitated numerous workshops on sexuality, relationships, and pleasure. Kale is dedicated to supporting individuals, couples and relationship constellations of all orientations and gender identities, with a focus on respecting consent and boundaries. Kale brings a queer-positive, anti-racist, and intersectional feminist perspective to the work, informed and inspired by the principles of decolonization, anti-patriarchy, anti-capitalism, and pro-earth spirituality.
Positionality Statement:

I am a 52-year-old, gender-fluid, queer individual, born on the unceded lands of the Wurunjiri people in Naarn. My positions of privilege include being able-bodied, middle-class, well-educated, and holding positions as a sex therapist, educator, coach, and sexological bodyworker. I come from a line of Jewish Eastern European ancestors who were displaced migrants from the Holocaust.
These positions influence how I perceive myself and others. I aspire to be conscious of my privileges and blind spots. I am open to having people help me become more aware of what I need to learn and practice.

Meet Kathi!

Kathi (she/they) is a gender-non-conforming, polyamorous, pansexual human who just entered their thirties. Berlin based, Kathi is a sexual life coach, sexual educator and sexologist. Working with different embodiment approaches (Sexocorporel, tantra, sexological bodywork), Kathi is driven by pleasure and considers pleasure activism as a way of loving radically, in order to counteract patriarchy and capitalism. Their love to participate and hold space at sexpositive events is aiming to spread love and lust. With this and individual sessions, they wish to support others in finding their personal fulfilment. Kathi has expertise (and is constantly evolving) in critical whiteness, relationship anarchy, BDSM and sex work.

Positionality Statement
My so far detected privileges (it’s a life-long process): I am perceived as a white European, cis-passing, I hold two masters’ degrees, speak six languages and was supported financially half my life through my middle-class parents who are both academics and white. I try to be aware of those as well as live my most authentic self - I am grateful for feedback to be able to grow and shed light on blind spots.

Our Tools

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

"Am I welcome here?"

Our wish is that you can be your true self. This includes all of you, emotions, thoughts, fears, arousal…everything. You don’t have to be anything, or not anything.

“What to wear for the event?”

You are welcome to wear anything from comfortable to extravagant, or both. You can bring some different clothes and change if you want. Wear something that makes you feel good.

“How do I prepare?"

If possible, please bring: water bottle, towel/canga, tools you like to play with (paint, food, anything is welcome!). But no need!
So whatever you need to prepare yourself, you can do: take a nap, call your babysitter or your therapist, bring a cake, your favorite teddy bear, a friend,... jokes aside: you can really do all of the above! Just whatever serves you is good.

”How is the space prepared for me?”

At Wamos, there are showers, a kitchen, and cozy mattresses and pillows. We will bring a homemade vegan soup (please get in touch if you really want soup and have allergies/food restrictions!) and tea.

“Do I have to participate in everything?”

You don’t. Maybe a practice or the atmosphere is not for you at a certain moment. You are free to move around the space the way you like. Take a nap if you haven’t had one in a long time. Journal. Eat. Shower. Hide underneath the blanket. Listen to your body. We would like to provide a space in which you can be as much yourself as possible. If you really feel uncomfortable, you can always reach out for support. Or you can leave at any point. You are also welcome back to the practices/circle anytime.

“Am I queer enough?”

Every BODY is welcome. You are enough just the way you are. Also if you think you are not queer: that’s enough. We welcome anyone who is open and curious, who respects other beings the way they are and gives their best to learn together how we can see each other’s true essences beyond the apparent categories.

“Will we have sex there?”

This is not a sex party. However, it is a sex positive space. Hopefully, you can relax and find the authentic expression of your pleasure. Desire is beautiful. We don’t want to exclude sexual interactions from this space. We also want everyone to be comfortable in the same room. So consent will be the base for everything we do. If you come to find someone to hook up with: you might have to go home for intimate one-on-one playtime if one person is not okay with people having sex in the same room. If we don’t do anything sexual that night and you have expected that upfront, you were in the wrong head space. Nevertheless, coming into play with other bodies, your own body and different materials CAN be a very sensory experience. If you discover a new kink that night, awesome! Moaning and sighing are invited. Think of sexual as a wide spectrum of the erotic: making the eating of soup a sensual experience. We want to co-create a space that is also safe for erotic expression. Just make sure you respect everyone’s boundaries by communicating your desires.
