Children No More: Were and are Gone

Sun Aug 23, 2026 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM The New Parkway, 94612

SF Bay Area Friends of Standing Together and Chochmaters for Collective Liberation present:

A special screening of Oscar nominated short documentary-

CHILDREN NO MORE: "WERE AND ARE GONE".

The screening will be followed by a Zoom discussion with the director, Hilla Medalia, about strategies of protest. We will also hear from local organizers other ways we can show up and support the struggle for peace, justice and equality in Israel/Palestine.

CHILDREN NO MORE: "WERE AND ARE GONE" is an observational documentary short about a vigil that began in March 2025, when a handful of women stood silently in a public square in Tel Aviv, each holding a photograph of a child killed in Gaza. On every image: the child's name, age, date of death, and the words "WAS AND IS NO MORE." Their stillness is heavy, pressing against the rhythm of ordinary life. Some passersby look away; others respond with denial, sorrow, or rage. Yet week after week, new names are added, new photographs are printed and lifted high. And each week, more people step forward to join this quiet act of protest.

Tickets are $15 each and are priced to cover screening costs. Any additional proceeds will go to support local organizing efforts and featured groups in Palestine/Israel. Tickets will be available to purchase at the door, as available.

Transportation and Accessibility: Metered street parking is available nearby for approximately $3/hour. The theater is very close to bus stops on the 6 and 51A lines and a few blocks from 19th Street BART.

The New Parkway is fully ADA accessible, including the 2nd floor Mezzanine.
