Fire safety defects are the most significant issue in the construction industry at present. Ralph Hindle, a construction disputes partner at Bevan Brittan, will give a comprehensive overview of this topic from the lawyer’s perspective. This includes key considerations in the ‘old world’ of contract claims for breach, as well as recent developments in the ‘new world’ claims brought under the Building Safety Act. He will also discuss the role of fire safety experts in these claims, and other practical considerations relating to the Building Safety Regulator, how insolvency is impacting this landscape and of course, the role of insurers.

Ralph Hindle is a Partner at Bevan Brittan and is a construction law specialist, with a particular expertise in advising on ongoing project management and dispute resolution. Ralph represents employers and contractors on a wide range of construction projects, including for central and local government, NHS and other public sector projects, commercial real estate development, housing and the future energy and nuclear markets.

Ralph has experience in resolving issues and disputes in relation to complex defects – including fire safety defects – as well as delay and disruption claims, payment issues and termination under all commonly used standard forms (JCT, NEC, FIDIC etc.) and bespoke construction contracts.
