Our Mission: Local Impact, Lasting Legacy
All proceeds from the Ball will support two charities at the heart of Shabbington’s identity:
• Shabbington Village Conservation Trust (SVCT)
The guardians behind so much of our shared village life, from the upkeep of community spaces such as the Millenium Field to the total rebuild of The Hut. The Trust seeks to project and preserve Shabbington’s unique rural character. The successful rebuild project has been funded by village fundraising, grants and a village hall loan from the Government. We need to continue to raise funds to pay this loan back.
• Thame River Conservation Trust (TRCT)
Shabbington is described ecologically as a wet village. The village and the Thame River are interwoven. TRCT works to protect and restore the local river catchment that shapes our landscape and biodiversity. Their hands-on conservation efforts support wildlife, water quality and the natural heritage we treasure. The Thame Catchment Farm Cluster is one of several initiatives whereby farmers create new wetland habitats, to improve soil health, and reduce pollution, with the goals of supporting biodiversity, improving water quality, and contributing to net-zero carbon emissions. The cluster facilitates knowledge exchange among farmers through training events and landscape-scale projects.
We have offered Shabbington residents the option to pay for tickets in two £50 instalments. We would encourage anyone who is in a position to pay in full to please do so, such that it provides us with good cash flow to be able to pay for deposits and securing equipment and services to run the ball. Thank you.
