SheCan D.I.Y & Home Maintenance Course Exclusively for Women - DORSET

SheCan is very excited to be able to offer our one-day course in Dorset. The venue is a lovely small holding in the village of Moreton, which is just down the road from Dorchester, running from a beautiful 17th-century barn. We have ample parking and it is also a short walk from the nearest train station.

All our home maintenance courses are hands-on, practical sessions. Each class includes plenty of safety advice, discussion and support. You’ll learn about tools, materials, professional tricks of the trade and the theory behind each technique you’ll be using.

What you can expect: A one-day Saturday course with adaptable content based around what you’d like to learn. Here’s a selection of the content we can cover, but we're happy to concentrate on particular skills that are useful to you.

• Tools & materials - Types of tools, woods and other materials; workbench options and how to stay safe. You’ll also be making something useful to take home with you.
• Drilling, cutting & fixing - Different drills, what they do and how to use them safely; types of screws, fittings and fastenings.
• Shelves, doors & hinges - Putting up shelves, pictures and curtain rails; how to fix and adjust wobbly hinges and loose door handles.
• Re-sealing bath and shower tray - Using a new tool and technique we can tackle this nasty job and add it to the 'can do' list.
• Decorating - Preparation, masking and sanding techniques; filling and prepping walls, caulking; primer, topcoats and varnish; wallpapering; how to stay safe on ladders and platforms.

NB: Please bring a packed lunch and a mug, we'll supply the brew!
