Clay Play

Clay Play is an entry level accessible ceramic club in Heeley!

One General Admission ticket entitles one person to one ball of clay and all the materials & guidance needed to turn it into something! (further 'balls' of clay can be purchased at £2.50)

This workshop is handbuilding only. A chance for you to explore the material the marks we can make and exact upon it and the tools we could use to turn it into something of use or decoration. These processes could be slab building, imprinting forms, coiling, and pinching these all work together to create our hand building sessions.

You will be led by our amateur makers from the workshop who have a general interest but are by no means experts. We would be more than happy to point you in the direction of more advanced classes should you require.

Once you're done, your creations will be fired in our kiln and will be ready to glaze or collect at the second session (should you wish to return for more. You may book just one session and then return to collect or request that your piece is glazed.)

We welcome young hands and minds in this workshop and if purchasing a ticket for a child under 16, accompanying adults are not obliged to buy a ticket for themselves, but you are asked to stay with your child(ren) for the duration of the activity.

Glaze only (1 hour) tickets and SAME Glaze (non-attendance) tickets are available only on completion of a General Admission session. More information regarding these will be sent to you on completion of your initial Clay Play session.

About the space
The workshop is a member led space that has tools, and materials and is used professionally throughout the week. There can be many risks and hazards in the space that we try to mitigate within the session. For instance, wood dust (we have extractors and ventilation), large machinary, and hand tools.

We will be working on height appropriate tables and chairs should you wish.

There is a toilet onsite, along with kitchenette.

There is a small step into and out of the main entrance. There is a step-free entrance via the shutters, although these can only be opened from inside, and the ground is rather uneven.

All facilities are on the ground floor.

Toilet currently contains no accessible features such as grab bars or alarm.

Both the main entrance doorway and the office doorways which lead to the toilet are quite narrow, with a width of 650mm
