Description
New Community Energy Projects in Sheffield and the surrounding area: A Call to Action!
Hosted by Sheffield Community Energy
Saturday 25 January 2025 at 2pm-5pm, Cemetery Road Baptist Church (Napier Street entrance, not Cemetery Road entrance)e
We will start at 2pm prompt. The venue will be open from 1.45pm
This is a follow-up event to our highly regarded 2024 event ‘Expanding Community Energy in South Yorkshire,’ which showcased successful community energy projects across the country.
New Community Energy Projects in Sheffield and the Surrounding Area is aimed at individuals and groups who are now willing and ready to start setting up their own community energy projects in the Sheffield area that can take advantage of new government support for community energy.
As the climate emergency continues to meet with a frustratingly slow response from governments, national and globally, local actors are increasingly taking the future into their own hands by setting up locally controlled renewable energy and carbon-reduction projects. If you are amongst those people who have the skills, the appetite and the enthusiasm to make sure we start addressing this challenge, then this event is for you.
On the day, you will have the chance to:
Meet with others who are interested in similar projects
Find out about the key first steps in setting up your own project
Find out about useful sources of support, locally and nationally
Find out about possible ways your project could be funded
See how others have set up similar projects
‘Sign up’ to either already existing or potential new projects
