Guided Walk: 'What's buzzin' at Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve? 7.30pm Moths and bats!

Fri 24 Apr 2026 7:30 PM - 8:45 PM Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve, S13 7BR

Come and find out 'What's buzzin' at Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve!

Join us on a free guided walk around the nature reserve where we will be spotting and recording wildlife from 7.30pm to 8.45pm.

Our entomologist Ben Keywood will lead this moth-tastic evening! We’ll meet at 7.30pm to introduce the wonderful world of moths and bats, and explore the reserve for caterpillars and other invertebrates. As dusk descends we'll turn on the light traps and wait to see which of the UK's 3000 species are attracted by the glow! We’ll bring the bat detectors along too and see if we can spot any bats whilst we are there.

Suitable for all. All ages are welcome to attend. The event is wheelchair friendly.  Please wear sturdy footwear and sensible clothing.
This is a bookable event
with limited spaces available.

We will have activities taking place from 3pm to 9pm, so please come along even if the guided walks are fully booked.

There are several walks available to book. If you’re unable to attend this time slot, there are two other walks starting at 4pm  and 5.30pm discovering the bees, butterflies and other insects found at the reserve.

There are toilet facilities and seating at the visitor centre and Cherry Blossom Coffee kart will be available for hot drinks and snacks.

We will be recording the data as part of the City Nature Challenge.
