Come and help us tackle the himalayan balsam at Shirebrook Valley. Whether you can stay for the whole session or just an hour or two, everyone is welcome.

All volunteer work days start at 10am and finish at 3pm. Please make sure you are at the meeting point by 10am,

Gloves, tools, and light refreshments (Tea/Coffee +Biscuits) are provided, but please wear suitable outdoor clothing, including waterproofs, long sleeves, trousers, and sturdy footwear. Please also bring lunch and water. 

Young Volunteers (14–17 years old)

Are you 14 to 17 and would like to volunteer on a work day? Please get in touch in advance with us on nature.reserves@wildsheffield.com so that relevant forms are filled in beforehand and the work day is suitable. If you are 14 – 15 you must be accompanied by an adult at all times. If you are 16 – 17 you will need to have a parental consent form.

Volunteer Eligibility

If you have a caution, unspent conviction or spent conviction that is not defined as protected, as part of our duty of care we have a process that we need to follow before we can decide whether to accept your application to volunteer. Please therefore do NOT sign up via our ticket system but instead contact volunteering@wildsheffield.com to discuss next steps.

About the Site
Shire Brook Valley is one of Sheffield’s largest green spaces, managed as a nature reserve by Sheffield City Council’s Parks and Countryside Service. The reserve contains a mosaic of species-rich grassland, wetlands ,woodland and ponds.
