Join Sheffield Transformed and SOS For Sudan for the Sheffield premiere of 'Khartoum'.

The film, which was released in 2025 and nominated for awards at several film festivals, charts the lives of five people in the Sudanese capital Khartoum, which has been ravaged by by an extremely brutal civil war since 2023. A civil servant, a tea lady, a resistance committee volunteer and two street boys. Five stories from Sudan weave together in search of freedom through animated dreams, street revolutions and a war from the metropolis of Khartoum to escape in East Africa.

All profits from ticket sales will be donated to SOS For Sudan, a mutual aid organisation for Sudanese people seeking sanctuary in Sheffield. Alongside funding material aid such as clothing and medication for those in refugee camps in Sudan and those who are newly arrived in Sheffield, they also run many excellent community initiatives including English lessons and conversation clubs, a weekly meal, opportunities to play sports and a mental health support club.

Members of Sheffield's Sudanese community will be at the screening to talk about their experience of leaving Sudan in the wake of the conflict, as well as the historical context of the conflict and what you can do to show solidarity with the Sudanese people.

Ticket Pricing

We want as many as people as possible to attend our events and don't want ticket prices to be a barrier. At the same time, we need to raise enough money to cover costs, such as hiring the venue. We've put together a sliding scale of ticket prices so that we can raise the money we need, without pricing anyone out.

When booking a place, we would ask that you select the ticket that you can afford:

  • £7 Standard Ticket: This is the default ticket price.
  • £9 Solidarity Ticket: If you are comfortable and have a decent income, please consider paying a little more.
  • £3 Low Income Ticket: For people on lower incomes who cannot afford the full ticket price.
  • No Charge Ticket: For people with no recourse to public funds, workers on strike and people who have no disposable income at all.
