Discover Sheffield’s radical history on this guided tour of the city centre.

Throughout the years, Sheffield has been home to numerous political campaigners, movements and agitators. From the Chartists and earliest socialists, through to the Suffragettes and Miners’ Strike, our city has been at the forefront of struggles for democracy and working-class organising.

Over the course of 90 minutes, this tour will help you to uncover Sheffield’s radical past as it guides you through the places that have hosted important, and often dramatic, episodes in our local political history.

The tour will begin at Barker’s Pool at 12 noon and end at 1:30pm. Meet at the 'Women of Steel' statue.

Places are restricted to sixteen people. Tickets are free but, as Sheffield Transformed has no regular source of funding, any donations will help us to host future events.

Sheffield Transformed is a group of socialists and trade unionists wanting to bring political education to Sheffield through discussion, debate, arts, and culture. The group is entirely volunteer-run and has already organised events on land justice, police brutality and the history of workers’ struggles.
