What to expect:

Experience Shibari as a conscious, sensual practice. In these private tuitions & sessions, we prioritize emotional connection, nervous-system regulation, and clear communication over performance or pain. You’ll be seen, supported, and guided at a calm pace that fits your body and intentions. No previous experience required.

  • Arrival & intentions (20–30 min): land, tea, short check-in, boundary & desire setting.
  • Guided rope journey (2 h): slow, intuitive, body-aware; tailored to your needs (solo or as a couple/duo).

  • Integration (15–30 min): gentle landing, water, short debrief.

Who is this for:

  • Individuals seeking a grounded introduction into Shibari with a strong focus on emotional and intimate connection.

  • Couples/duos wishing to deepen intimacy, trust, and communication by playing with a stronger sense of polarity.

  • Individuals curious about the aesthetic and meditative qualities of Tantric-Shibari

“I consider Shibari as a practice of ongoing exploration. When I teach “the art of Shibari with intention” my focused practice emphasizes tying one’s partner in an intimate and sensual way, fostering a deep connection and meaningful communication through the ropes.

The essence of Shibari lies in the connection between the aesthetic expression and the emotional as well as sensual intention of the practice.”

– Dan Carabas

The combination of Tantra and Shibari can be an intense and transformative experience, combining different aspects of consciousness and physical sensations.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1. What exactly is Shibari?

Shibari is a traditional Japanese art of rope bondage — but in our studio, it's practiced as a form of bodywork, emotional release, and deep presence. It’s not about pain or domination, but about connection, surrender, and embodiment. You are held, not just physically, but emotionally.

2. Is Shibari sexual or erotic?

It can feel sensual or emotionally intense — but it is not inherently sexual. Our sessions are non-sexual in nature and based on trust, safety, and presence. The intention is grounding, mindful, and body-focused — not erotic performance.

3. Do I need experience to book a session?

No experience at all is required. Many people come to us for the first time without knowing anything about ropes. Everything is explained gently, and the session moves at your pace. Your comfort and boundaries are always respected.

4. What happens during a session?

  • Arrival (30 min): Time to land, talk, drink tea and get to know each other.
  • Session (2 h): A guided Shibari experience — slow, intuitive, and responsive to your needs.
  • Integration (15–30 min): Time to rest, talk, drink water, and slowly return.

5. What should I wear?

Wear something you feel comfortable and relaxed in. Many people bring soft, stretchy clothing like yoga wear or underwear. You’re also welcome to be partially undressed — but always within your comfort zone. There’s no pressure.

6. Will I be suspended in the air?

Not necessarily. Rope suspension is only offered after you gathered some experience with your body in ropes and if it’s safe, desired, and appropriate for your body. Most sessions use floor-based techniques that are just as powerful and often even more grounding. This is not about performance — it’s about your experience.

7. What can I expect to feel?

Everyone’s experience is different, but common feelings include:

  • Deep relaxation
  • Emotional release
  • Trance-like stillness
  • A sense of being held and seen
  • Reconnection with the body

Some call it a "rope high", or a "soul massage."

8. Disclaimer:

Dan is not a licensed therapist or medical professional. The Shibari sessions he offers are not a substitute for psychotherapy, medical treatment, or professional mental health support.

While the experience can be emotionally and physically meaningful, it is intended as a form of somatic and artistic exploration — not clinical therapy.

Dan Carabas has worked with Shibari and rope-based practices for over a decade alongside his internationally exhibited art project Metamorphic Sculptures. His teaching approach, often described as “the art of Shibari with intention,” emphasizes intimacy, awareness, and relational depth through rope.
