Description
If you last looked at poetry when you were at school and felt put-off and weary at its seriousness, rhyme and meter, please look again with MJ
Greenwood, visiting author and poetry teacher here at Shimpling Park Farm on this one-day immersive and enjoyable workshop.
We will have a fun and inspiring day where we will experiment with form and styles, but the most important criteria is telling your truth as you see it; whether that is looking at nature, friendships, family, the way the sunset feels, loss or joy. This is your chance to colour your view of world in your words. To look at a moment in life and make it breathe.
It doesn’t have to rhyme. It doesn’t have to be in verse. That can come later with editing or not at all. Some call it painting pictures with words. This enjoyable and stimulating day is about how you can communicate your personal experiences through poetry.
M J Greenwood was a journalist for 25 years writing features for regional and national newspapers. She has always written poetry and had success in competitions, including being shortlisted for the Bridport prize and a recent poem was published in the Amphibian magazine. She says that her move to teaching poetry has been "one of the best things I’ve ever done". Her debut novel "The Blue Hour" was published in 2021
All refreshments and lunch included and we will have a celebratory glass of wine at the end of a good day. Just bring your pen, paper or preferred method of taking notes.
