Fungi For Beginners
Sat 12 Oct 2024 8:45 AM - 1:00 PM
Shimpling Park Farm, IP29 4HY
Description
An introduction to fungi identification is exactly that. This course will help you start or indeed improve your identification skills "in the field" starting with the "easier" mushrooms....macrofungi with gills and pores! It will help you know what features and field features to look for. It will help you assess and identify, photograph reliably, know where to look and start the journey to the love of fungi. It might also help you know when to walk away! You will not become an expert overnight and this is not a course about edible fungi (although we will touch on this) but it will start you on the road to knowing what is what!
Tutored by Juliet Hawkins who is a passionate fungi enthusiast having started as a child in the New Forest. She is now a notable conservation adviser, botanist and into everything that crawls or flies. Juliet warns that the more you know about fungi, the more you realise you still have to learn... and you may well get hooked on the journey.
WARNING
Fungi is entirely weather dependent. It arrives and is illusive at a moment’s notice. We may have to adjust the course structure and content at the very last minute.
