We are excited to present our second weekend workshop in Edinburgh. If you are an improviser or performer wanting to explore instant musical theatre, this is the course for you!

Covering the skills that have made Showstopper! The Improvised Musical an Olivier Award-winning West End hit, we will look at improvised solo and group numbers, narrative skills, scene work (comedic and dramatic) and improvised choreography. 

Led by Edinburgh-based Showstopper veteran Pippa Evans and it's Musical Director, Duncan Walsh Atkins, you are in for an intense and delightful two days.

FAQ:

Do I need to be able to sing?

Do you need to be able to sing like Adele? No. Will it be helpful if you can hold a note? Yes. We only ask that you come with a willingness to sing in front of other people. We are not here to judge your singing voice.

Do I need to know musical theatre?

When improvising any subject, some knowledge is useful. You do not need to be encyclopedic. We will be referencing West End/Broadway shows so you might want to know your Les Mis from your Dear Evan Hansen. Google is always your friend here.

I've never done any improv - can I come?

We ask that you either have a basic training in improvisation or some theatrical experience. This weekend isn't suitable for complete beginners.

I’ve taken this course before - can I take it again?

Absolutely! We work on both a group and an individual level, meaning we can tailor our feedback to the level of experience you bring into the room.

When: April 20th and 21st 2023, 10.00am - 5.00pm (both days)

Where: Quaker Studio, 60 Pleasance, EH8 9TJ (part of the university)

How much: £195 per person for the weekend. 

Maximum participants: 14.
