Solar Federation (Tribute to RUSH)

Solar Federation – the only Rush tribute band from the United States invited to perform at A Night for Neil, the 2022 memorial concert organized by the family of late drummer Neil Peart – brings its award-winning interpretation of the iconic progressive rock band’s music to Shy Bear Brewing on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

Solar Federation celebrates the entirety of Rush’s career, including FM radio staples like “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight,” “Working Man,” “The Spirit of Radio”, “Freewill,” “Closer to the Heart” and many more. The band also digs deep into its massive catalog, and you’ll hear lots of rarely played album cuts and complex prog rock epics.

Over the last decade, Solar Federation has established itself as a faithful tribute to Rush, garnering praise from fans around the globe not only for the meticulous attention to detail of guitarist Eric Wirsing, bassist/keyboardist Mike Bitts, and drummer Ffej Herb, but also for vocalist Julie Schreiber’s unique presentation of the band’s dynamic melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.

Solar Federation was voted “Best Tribute Band” at the 5th annual Central PA Music Awards in 2024. The band’s recent recording of “Witch Hunt” – a collaboration with longtime Rush album cover artist Hugh Syme and producer Terry Brown – appears on Volume 5 of the compilation album, Songs for Neil, a tribute album series released and distributed internationally by RushFest Scotland.

Ticket prices increase by $5 per person for any sold the day of the show.  Purchasing tickets through this portal will end on Friday August 8th at 10pm and all sales that occur after the fact will be assessed the additional $5 fee.

We will be open to the public at the same time as the show is going on but brewery guests will strictly be seated inside the taproom.  We kindly ask that you do not plan to arrive for your reserved table until anytime after 6:45pm.  We will be contacting you closer to the date to provide a more dedicated time that you should plan to arrive.  Show will start around 7:30pm.

Event is rain or shine.  In case of extreme weather conditions, a make up date may be scheduled if in case the show must be postponed.  There's also a chance that we may need to refund your tickets if a make up date is not an option.  Full service food & drink is provided.  No outside beverages are permitted which includes any type of insulated beverage container or water bottle.  No umbrellas or personal shelters that would inhibit people to see the stage behind you are permitted either.
