Jason is a Belfast-based concertina player. He has released three solo albums and five other albums with various bands. His latest recording, The Sunny Side of the Latch is his most ambitious project yet. The album is entirely comprised of new compositions, including highlands, hop jigs, and French mazurkas, alongside the reels and jigs.

Jason has carried out international collaborative projects in India, Brazil, Cambodia and Zimbabwe. His online Kolkata-Belfast Covid-19 lockdown project with Bengali singer Deepmoy Das was premiered at the “greatest literary show on earth”, The Jaipur Literature Festival. After a hiatus due to ill health in 2025-26 Jason has returned to playing and touring and is working on a new album of compositions with Italian guitarist Jacopo Ventura. Despite his international excursions, Jason’s music remains firmly rooted in the Irish tradition, as his works demonstrate.
