The Grand Stretch continues with the fabulous Bertrand Huvé and our resident maestro and company, John Conneely with Mark Sullivan on guitar.

Born in Fougeres, France, in the mid-’70s, Bertrand Huvé is a versatile musician and visual artist currently residing in Galway, Ireland, since September 2000.

Bertrand’s musical journey began in 1994 when he earned his diploma in saxophone from the Fougeres Conservatoire of Music. With a passion for teaching, Bertrand dedicated himself to music education from 1992 to 2018, simultaneously captivating audiences with his performances in concerts, musicals, and various gigs. In 2018, he decided to shift his focus entirely to his career as a professional musician, specialising in saxophones, clarinets, and flute.

He has lent his talents to numerous projects and bands, including the Black Magic Big Band, the Lewd Tunes, The Bentley Boys Band, occasional collaborations with the RTE symphonic and concert orchestras, the Galway Jazz Quartet, Karl Clews Trio, and the weekly residency with John Conneely Inc. Bertrand has left his mark on numerous recording projects over the years, showcasing his versatility and musical prowess. With a well-equipped home studio, he possesses all the tools necessary to bring his musical ideas to life, offering a unique and personalised touch to his recordings.

Beyond music, Bertrand found a new channel for creative expression around 2005, delving into visual art. Under the guidance of the talented artist and musician Ken Hall, he expanded his artistic horizons, eventually pursuing formal studies in Art and Design at GMIT, where he got his B.A. in 2012. Bertrand is diverse interests extend beyond the realm of art and music. He is an avid reader, cinema enthusiast, and finds joy in the exploration of various art forms. With a rich background in both music and visual arts, Bertrand Huvé continues to captivate audiences and explore the boundless possibilities of creative expression.
