Antigone
Multiple dates and times
Théâtre Cercle Molière, R2H 0G7
Description
In partnership with Théâtre Cercle Molière, Sick + Twisted Theatre and AA Battery Theatre are joining forces to produce Anne Carson's sublime translation of Sophokles’ Antigone with original music by The Mariachi Ghost.
Performed by an integrated cast of Deaf, disabled and non-disabled artists and underscored by the driving rhythms and soaring melodies of The Mariachi Ghost’s music, this production highlights the vulnerability at the very heart of courage. How does a society examine its rituals around death? How easily can a democracy can slip to tyranny when citizens are paralyzed into silence and inaction?
Exuberant, edgy and urgent: this Antigone speaks to this moment of transformation we are all experiencing in these remarkable times.
