Claymazing! with Richard Jefferies
Get your hands dirty with us, as we dig up clay and turn it into pots or cups, or mini works of art with Richard Jefferies!
Discover the most incredible resource right under our feet, as we take our buckets and spades and dig up beautiful, lush, orange clay on the museum grounds. Clay has been the biggest thing in human history for hundreds of thousands of years - we drink out of it, we eat our dinner off it, and we even make our houses out of it - the amazing clay! In this workshop, we might not have time to build a house, but we will learn how to turn this versatile natural material into whatever we want it to be, from coil and slab pots, to small animals and figures, or your very own sculptural masterpiece. Meet with Richard Jefferies and ask him questions about his life and all about his items in the museum whilst you shape your clay!
