Participants will explore the art of photography in celebration of World Photography Day, capturing images that reflect their own ideas, interests and surroundings. This session invites young people aged 11–17 to bring their own camera or borrow one of ours and experiment with how different moments can be seen and recorded through a lens.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will work individually and in small groups in a relaxed, supportive environment where creativity and confidence can develop. With guidance from experienced tutors, they will be encouraged to try new approaches, explore different subjects and develop their own photographic style.

You will learn:

  • How to use a camera to take clear, well-composed photographs
  • The basics of framing, lighting and perspective
  • How to look creatively at everyday scenes and subjects
  • Tips for capturing mood, storytelling and detail through images
  • How to review and select your best photographs

By the end of the session, each participant will have created a collection of their own photographs, celebrating their creativity and giving them a set of images they can share with friends and family.
