For this inaugural event, Sonido del Sol shines a spotlight on the profound Jewish contribution to salsa through the life and legacy of legendary pianist, producer, and bandleader Larry Harlow. Known worldwide as “El Judío Maravilloso - The Marvelous Jew.” Harlow was a trailblazer and a key architect of the iconic New York salsa sound.

An engaging historical lecture will unfold through the energy of a live band.

Leonardo (Leo) is the creative force behind Leo y Su Sonido del Sol - “Sound of the Sun.” His fresh concert-and-lecture format brings salsa history to life with the immediacy and energy of an electric live band.

Celebrating Larry Harlow:

Known as “El Judío Maravilloso - The Marvelous Jew,” Larry Harlow helped define the sound of New York salsa as a pianist, producer, and bandleader. Leo and the band will honor Harlow’s extraordinary cross-cultural legacy and the Jewish musicians who helped shape this iconic American music.
