Gareth Baty at Sitwell Supper Club September 25 2026

Fri 25 Sep 2026 7:00 PM - 10:30 PM Sitwell Supper Club, TA43PT

We're excited to announce an exclusive, unique dinner by MasterChef: The Professionals 2026 winner Gareth Baty on Friday September 26 2026.

Gareth stormed to victory after weeks of gruelling cooking on the world’s biggest TV cooking contest with a menu of prawn cocktail, chicken and chips and a Brandy Alexander dessert. And guests at this dinner will get the wonderful and rare chance to enjoy that very starter. It’s a prawn cocktail with a difference as Gareth uses dashi-poached lobster, langoustine and green apple.

And it was on BBC’s MasterChef that Gareth first cooked for our very own William Sitwell as he served William and fellow critic Tom Parker Bowles a halibut dish with beer-battered mussels. ‘It was a quarter final to remember,’ says William, adding. ‘Of course I knew then that he’d go on to take the trophy!’

Gareth, from Greater Manchester, has worked in a number of famous kitchens from London’s Berners Tavern to New York’s Harlem Food Bar. Now, having founded The Wandering Cumbrian, he curates and cooks exceptional dinners around the UK.

His menu for Sitwell Supper Club is a celebration of British nostalgia featuring such classics as cheesy chips, prawn cocktail, chicken and mushroom and sticky toffee pudding. And you’ll be in for a treat as Gareth reimagines these humble-sounding dishes taking them to new heights. Says William: ‘This will be the dinner of 2026. I’m so happy Gareth has agreed to come and cook for me again and some of my Somerset pals!’

So except a four-course dinner matched with great wines and, as always, a large pinch of fun.

Your host, as ever, is of course William Sitwell, one of Britain's foremost food writers. Restaurant critic for The Telegraph, he has been a regular judge on the BBC hit show MasterChef for almost 20 years. His supper club, in his converted cow shed at Rooks Nest Farm near Wiveliscombe in West Somerset off Exmoor, is a firm favourite for lovers of great food, great wine and great times!

Diners will take their seats in the tent within the barn of the supper club, a place where friendships are made and great times are had.

Where can I stay?

Accommodation may be found at the nearby White Hart, director, one William Sitwell

There's also Emprean, a charming 18th century cottage in the next door village of Brompton Ralph - a five minute drive, or you could walk across the fields... This exquisite accommodation can sleep four people, it's a very rural escape, well-appointed and children and babies are welcome too!

And close to our nearest town of Wiveliscombe you can rent a beautiful cabin for two at North Down Farm. Amid a 190-acre beef cattle farm it's a cosy place to stay with a wood burner, an Everhot stove and wonderful views.

Supper club guests can also benefit from a 10 % discount if they book into the Yarn Market Hotel in Dunster. The hotel also offers free transport and special weekend deals for groups of seven or more.

Or make a cosy long weekend of it with utterly fabulous views and book a shepherd's hut at nearby Higher Roddon Farm. Duncan and Alexis Thomas rent out two couple's huts on their farm.

We also highly recommend a stay Steam and Stars, a luxury shepherd's hut or chic vintage caravan in Sampford Brett, near Williton. Check out steamandstars.co.uk and let them know that you're coming to the Sitwell Supper Club! Owners Trevor and Bee will also drive you to and from Rooks Nest!!

For larger groups we are fans of The Big House Co. They run several beautiful and unique locations in this part of Somerset and cater for groups from a minimum of ten people to more than 20. Check out where to stay and why not put Sitwell Supper Club at the heart of a fantastic party weekend!
