Painting the Clothed Figure in Oil // // A 3 Day Workshop With Artist Nina Ruminska

Friday August 9th - Sunday August 11th // 10:00 - 16:00

Join Artist Nina Ruminska for this exciting three-day course, where you will get the opportunity to paint a model (clothed) from life.

Nina will guide you through all of the important aspects of full figure portrait painting. During the workshop, we will explore subjects like:

• The importance of composition in conveying mood and atmosphere in a painting,
• Preparatory work including colour sketches, line drawing and monochromatic underpainting on canvas,
• Colour mixing to achieve realistic, natural looking skin tones,
• Anatomy and how to construct a proportionate figure,
• Developing features of the face,
• How to capture the unique characteristics and emotions of the sitter.

You will learn how to work in an organised manner and eventually bring the portrait to completion.

This course is a great opportunity to build a firm foundation in portrait painting, allowing you to produce compelling and expressive portraits.

Artist's Bio:

Nina was educated at the Florence Academy of Classical Art, working in Sergey Chubirko’s art atelier.

''My subject matter is a human in a melancholic, thinking state. Using the traditional technique of oil painting I depict people in neutral, relaxed poses, often in a larger context - an interior that reflects the character, or landscape - to convey a certain mood or feeling.

Rather than idealising the sitters, I try to capture them at their truest. Each painting attempts to express the emotional landscape of being human through composition and colour.''

Nina was also a Finalist in Sky Art Portrait Artist of the Year Season 9 (2022)

If you cannot attend the workshop we can reschedule your workshop if you inform us up to 21 days prior to the workshop's start date. If you request to reschedule less than 21 days before the workshop starting date we will not be in a position to change the date. Places can be given to a friend if you can no longer attend - please inform us as soon as you can with the new attendee's contact details.
