Painting From Life - The Costumed Figure // A 2 day workshop with Artist Bríd Higgins Ní Chinnéide // Weds Aug 19 + Thurs Aug 20 // 10:00 - 16:00
This 2-day workshop will provide a comprehensive exploration of oil painting with a dedicated focus on the clothed figure. Participants will work directly from a life, developing their observational skills and understanding of anatomy, proportion, and drapery. The model will be wearing a theatrical costume to add interest and colour to the pose. Bríd will guide participants from initial sketches to detailed oil paintings. Key areas of focus will include:
Understanding Form and Structure: Techniques for accurately rendering the human figure in three dimensions and instruction on the fundamentals of anatomy.
Color and Light: Exploring how light interacts with the figure and mixing and applying colours to convey the texture and weight of the human form.
Brushwork and Texture: Experimenting with various brushwork techniques to achieve different textures and expressive qualities.
Individualised Feedback: Receive personalised critiques and guidance from Bríd throughout the workshop.
Ideally participants will have some painting experience and everyone will work at their own pace.
