A fun day out with a supportive group to the top of the most southerly Munro which towers above Loch Lomond and gives great views throughout the walk over the loch, its islands, the Trossachs, and all the mountains to the north.
The walk starts on the shores of Loch Lomond, then goes up through some beautiful woodland until reaching the open moorland and the views open up. The ground steepens for a bit and then has a more gentle gradient until the final ascent to the summit where we are rewarded with panoramic views which will make the effort all worthwhile. We'll return the way we came with views down Loch Lomond stretching out ahead of us.
Key information:
- Start/finish at Rowardennan (map here). There is a charge for parking (currently £5 for an all day ticket). There isn't any public transport to the start but a lift can be arranged from Glasgow, Milngavie or Drymen; please get in touch or make a note at time of booking)
- 9am to 5pm with breaks
- Distance: 12km and 990 metres of ascent
- Terrain: Clear path with some rocky sections
- Toilets: there are toilets at the start/end.

Experience and fitness level:
Some experience of hill walking is required (you don't need to have climbed other Munros, but you should have walked some smaller hills e.g. Conic Hill). We will be on our feet for up to 7 hours and there will be, unsurprisingly, a lot of walking up hill. There is a good path all the way; it can be uneven and rocky.
If you're not sure if this walk is for you, please get in touch.
What to bring:
You will need: sturdy and comfortable walking shoes with good grip, waterproof jacket with a hood, rucksack, gloves, warm hat, spare warm layer, hiking trousers or leggings, sunhat, sunscreen, water, lunch, snacks, and walking poles if you have them.
If you don’t have a piece of kit, please get in touch in advance and I’ll see if we have a spare you can borrow for the day.
