SMD online seminar 2024: dr. Akos Kovacs (NL)

Our next presenter in the SMD online seminar series 2024 is Professor Dr. Akos T Kovacs from Leiden University (the Netherlands). His presentation will be entitled: "Chemical ecology of Bacilli: secondary metabolite diversity, function, and evolution".

The group of Prof dr Kovacs concentrates on the growth and development of Bacilli during the establishment of biofilms and interaction with rhizosphere microorganisms using a combination of molecular biology and eco-evolutionary approaches. They combine genome sequencing, genetic engineering, transcriptomics, and natural product chemistry to reveal the response of Bacillus subtilis to its biotic environment to predict the biocontrol efficiency of this plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium.
