We at Slow Ways love a long-distance walking project!

Join us for this special event with John Scott and Mary Austin, two giant Slow Wayers who have taken on seriously ambitious walking projects – in two very different ways.

  • Mary Austin is taking a very different approach. She’s walking from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in sections over time, fitting the adventure around everyday life and joining the pieces together as she goes. She calls it “Le Juggle” because she’s walking the sections in a wonderfully jumbled order. Mary has also walked more than 6,000 km of Slow Ways across 638 routes.
  • John Scott recently completed the first full walk of the proposed Slow Ways National Parks Trail – 3,720 km across England, Wales and Scotland, connecting all 15 National Parks. John tackled it as one continuous adventure, spending nearly five months walking from Cromer to Nairn. He has also previously walked the Appalachian Trail.

Together, John and Mary show that a big walking adventure doesn’t have to be done in one particular way. You can disappear for months and make the journey your life for a while, or build something epic one day, weekend and walking holiday at a time.

Come along to hear their stories, get inspired, pick up practical tips for creating a long-distance walking project of your own, and ask questions.

Got your own project planned? We would love to hear about it.

Hosted by Dan Raven-Ellison, founder of Slow Ways.
