SMArT presents: Saturday Afternoon Life Drawing – 4 x 30 min with Michael
Drawing by Ralph McCauliffe

Model & Set

We are excited to welcome relatively new model Michael, with an exciting theme. It is a series of complimentary ideas brought by Michael in pairs of 30 minute poses. Each pair of poses will work in opposition to each other. We will start with a 5x1min warm-up then 4x30 min set.

What’s involved

This untutored session is designed and run by SMArT — Sara Myers Art — offering a focused, spacious environment for people to simply be in the presence of a model. Whatever your practice, whether you enjoy experimental work or want the discipline and progression of regular life drawing, you are welcome.

Life drawing can be completely absorbing, occasionally frustrating and often calming and exhilarating all at the same time. We work with professional models and spot lighting in a large, day‑lit studio at Yardley Arts, with high windows and lots of space. Tea, coffee and biscuits are readily available, along with access to a kitchen and the pretty sculpture garden.

What’s provided

Easels, drawing boards, clips, basic A2 cartridge paper or sugar paper and a small selection of general materials are provided. You’re warmly encouraged to bring your own preferred papers and media  -  charcoal, graphite, ink, pastels -  whatever helps you work freely, but everything essential is available. It’s also a good social space: a chance to meet like‑minded people who are experimenting, developing their skills or simply keeping their hand in with regular practice.

Ethos

SMArT sessions are built on a simple principle: this is a creative space. That means non‑judgement, quiet respect and full permission to experiment. You can take risks, make bold marks, change direction or start again without comment. It’s a room where people can simply draw — freely, privately and without comparison.

Accessibility

There is a wheelchair‑accessible entrance at the back of the building, through the garden gate, which is open during the session. It is up a slope. I am able to give extra help and support if the slope or fire‑doors are difficult. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact
