Through the photographic image, love, intimacy, and community become the centerpiece and catalyst for movement work. In addition, an audio collage creates a dynamic sonic narrative of personal and collective echoes of voices heard across generations of movement work. Activated to document the complexities of Black life, photographers Devin Allen, Jen Everett, Kris Graves, Jon Henry, Alexis Hunley, and Joshua Rashaad McFadden become storytellers echoing a movement resisting the social injustices that reverberate throughout 21st century Black life and American life.
Join us for a panel discussion with curator Lola Ayisha Ogbara and the Let Us Breathe Collective as we explore the themes of veneration, grief, evanescent placemaking, and memorials as monuments. The discussion will delve into the fleeting nature of social justice collectives and their significant impact, reflecting on the meaning of Ferguson 10 years later and its echoes in today's global social justice movements.
Panelists: Jennifer Pagan & Damon Williams
(Additional panelists to be confirmed)
The photography show will feature works that capture the themes of grief, veneration, memorials, and evanescence, providing a powerful visual narrative of the ongoing fight for justice.
* Seating for the panel discussion will be limited.
The exhibition will run from Aug 9, 2024 to May 25, 2025.
