SAHR Templer Lecture 2025

SAHR members are cordially invited to the 2025 Templer Lecture and Dinner, which will be held at the Army & Navy Club, 36-39 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5JN (a short walk from Green Park and Piccadilly Circus tube stations).

Dress code for this event is Lounge Suit/Jacket and Tie, or equivalent.

Members can choose to attend one or more of the following events:

6.00pm: The Templer Lecture

This year, we will be treated to a joint lecture and panel discussion from Professors Kevin Linch and David Lambert, on the theme of 'The Army, Manpower Issues, and their Legacies, 1793-1815’. Professors Linch and Lambert were awarded first and second place in the 2024 Templer Medal competition. The discussion will be chaired by Dr. Glyn Prysor, of the National Army Museum.

Entrance to the Lecture is FREE for SAHR members plus one guest each - but please register so that we can arrange smooth entry into the Club for you.

7.15pm The Templer Dinner

For those who wish to stay for the Templer Dinner, this will take place after the lecture at approximately 7:15pm. The Dinner is always a highlight of the SAHR calendar year and promises to be a lively and convivial evening. The ticket price, which is subsidised from Society funds, includes a three-course dinner, wine, coffee and mints. 

The evening will conclude at approximately 10pm.

Registration

Space in the lecture room and dining room is finite, so we need to advise the club of numbers in advance and places will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis. Please therefore book in by 31 October at the latest.
