Setting is important in all stories, but in children’s fiction, it’s vital. But what should we include and, more importantly, what should we leave out?
In this fun and interactive workshop, award-winning children’s author, Justin Davies (Haarville, Floris Books) will take us through his building blocks of creating a sensational setting. Along the way, we’ll all be creating our own brand-new worlds, filling them with fabulous features, parades of people and delightful details. Then, we’ll have a go at editing our amazing ideas, asking ourselves the age-old question: should it stay or should it go?
This will be followed by a 25/30 minute discussion between Justin and Barbara on creative resilience in the industry, with time for a Q&A for audience members to get involved too.
