Sat 2 Nov 2024 12:00 PM - 3:45 PM
Abertarff House, Aberdeen, IV1 1ES
Description
Take a tour of Inverness with local author and historian Norman Newton followed by a creative writing workshop with children's author Barbara Henderson in the historic Abertarff House (built in 1593, Abertarff is the city's oldest residential house and managed by The National Trust for Scotland). In addition, participants will visit the iconic Leakey's Bookshop, Scotland's largest second-hand bookshop.
The tour will be based on Norman Newton's activity book for children 'Wild about Inverness' (written in collaboration with Pauline Mackay and illustrated by Marjory Tait). It is a tour of downtown Inverness written for children (5+) with a map and booklet for adults included. It follows a trail around the town looking at old buildings and statues in search of carved animals (including birds, fish, unicorns, a dragon and a sphinx!).
