We, the Ancient Wine Guys (Dr. Dana DePietro, Dr. Jeff Pearson, and Ti Ngo), are thrilled to be debuting the latest in our ongoing series of wine lectures and fundraisers: The Wines of Dante's Inferno. In a unique retelling of this classic and foundational text, we'll follow Dante Alighieri and his guide, Publius Vergilius Maro (Vergil), as they journey through the Underworld and meet a litany of unfortunate souls condemned there to atone for their sins. The evening will feature nine wines (one for each level of hell!) inspired by Dante's text and world, along with small-plate food pairings. We hope you can join us for this special evening in support of a great cause.
A Selection of Nine Wines and Assorted Shared Plates Inspired by Dante's Inferno for $75
All proceeds from this event will directly benefit the Society for Humanitarian Archaeological Research and Exploration (S.H.A.R.E.), a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that uses archaeology as a tool to promote peace and dialogue in Israel/Palestine. S.H.A.R.E. is currently raising money to fund its annual two-week conservation and dialogue project for Arab and Jewish youth in the seaside town of Jisr az-Zarqa, Israel. This program provides an opportunity for these young people to engage with the past, the present, and one another on their own terms.
This promises to be one hell of an event, so be sure to reserve your tickets soon!
(Tickets are also available HERE for Friday night, December 13 at 1329 Arch Street, Berkeley.)
