The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) Soils and Stones project is pleased to invite you to this special CPD and networking event. Since the project’s inception in late 2019, our cross-sector network of professionals has helped to raise the profile of soils as a pressing environmental issue for policymakers and contributed towards a growing catalogue of guidance to improve practice on the ground.

Despite our successes over the last five years, we know that much more needs to be done. This free event brings together volunteers and partners to reflect on our progress to date, update on the latest project output/ opportunities, and discuss how we can further our work together to realise the optimum value of soils and stones. It’s also a chance to network, get inspired and learn from likeminded professionals. We hope you will be able to join us this April.

Lunch is provided courtesy of our lunch sponsor, SLR Consulting.

The event will include the following presentations:

  • We will present a progress update from the Soils & Stones project exec team, noting our achievements, challenges and priorities for the rest of 2025 and beyond.
  • Midlands Land Events (MidLE) will be joining us to present the launch of the SILOtoSOIL Tool, designed to highlight and signpost to the wealth of existing soil related expertise, guidance, and publications available across different disciplines and locations.
  • Our hosts Arup will share insights from their case study on Sequestering Carbon in Soil.
  • Applied Microbiology International will present on their newly published paper exploring how a microbial approach can improve soil health in the UK.

In light of recent Government announcements, there will also be a discussion on the case for legislative coherence.
