While all five band members are talented in their own right, Foggy Memory Boys is definitely a case of the whole being greater than its parts. This funky psychedelic bluegrass band is quickly becoming one of the most exciting acoustic acts in the Southwest today. FMB draw from a deep well of musical experience and the Boys have a unique string band perspective. Contorting the music into a New Mexican wild-grass like nothing else on the scene, FMB structures their songs around strong lyrical content, powerful melodies, and a musical bond that only a band of true brothers can create.
Formed on the legendary stage 5 at the prestigious Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival, they blur the lines between traditional bluegrass roots music and more contemporary styles. With a fresh rip -snortin’ approach to strong melodically driven songs, a playful energy, smooth singing harmonies, and an infectious stage presence, FMB has been taking their “Southwest Psychedelia” far and wide around the country from their home in the sage and sandstone of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The Foggy Memory Boys bring "that festival vibe" to every venue they perform.
FMB has shared the stage with acts such as Tim O’Brien, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway, Sam Bush Band, the Infamous Stringdusters, the Lil’ Smokies, The Young Dubliners, The Jon Stickley Trio and The Kyle Tuttle Band.
Tucked in the Mountains of Northern New Mexico the Foggy Memory Boys combine the unique skills of Jacob Hagerty on mandolin (master luthier and New Mexico state mandolin champion), Andy Yeomans on acoustic flattop guitar & vocals, "Uncle" Willie Hunton on dobro, Zephaniah Stringfield on arch top guitar & vocals (singer-songwriter extraordinaire & 2-time New Mexico Music Award winner), and Matt Mallwitz on the bass fiddle.
