Y WERIN / HIRAETH explores what it means to be from Merthyr, through the voices and work of local filmmakers, artists and photographers at the centre of the town’s modern cultural rebellion.

From Thursday 10 July – Sunday 13 July, there will be a host of screenings, masterclass events, short film showcases, and the best of local food and art – a real celebration of Merthyr and the people who make it.

Created for all audiences, the film is a poetic reflection on finding beauty in the ordinary. It’s about hope through hardship, and a love letter to our (and everyone’s) home.
