Celebrating 10 years of Creative Minds in Song (World Premiere of ‘My Child’)

Song in the City’s flagship project ‘Creative Minds in Song’ began in 2015, and has produced 30 co-created songs with in collaboration with writers who have lived experience of mental illness using the talents of Guildhall School composers, singers and instrumentalists.

‘My Child’ is the work of poet Isobel Lane and Michal Kawecki, who first met on Song in the City’s Creative Minds in Song project.

This deeply personal piece draws on Isobel’s lived experiences and explores themes of mental health, depression, and resilience through her poetry.

The premiere will take place alongside previous compositions and poetry readings from former Creative Minds in Song participants.

Isobel Lane has written the texts and painted a stunning series of artworks which will be on display at the concert.

We also delighted to be hosting the amazing photographer and artist Val Juma at our concert on Friday 11 April. Val has recently shown his amazing exhibition INVISIBLE at Bow Arts. His work explores mental health, identity, and resilience through art.
