Come in from the cold for an honest, soulful and deeply human evening.

For one night in Amsterdam, two artists will bring their lineages into the same room. Song, cello, voice, spoken word and storytelling come together as a single, living journey that you become part of. Different traditions in dialogue, raw emotions meeting and dancing through sound, languages flowing from one voice to another and music shaped by the exchange between the artists and everyone present.

Through song & story these two women will explore what it means to be human: our contradictions, our vulnerabilities, our beauty and the freedom we find when a room full of strangers is moved, together.

MORE THAN A CONCERT

The gathering is a space for free expression and honest conversation. Alongside music, the evening makes room for open dialogue and shines a light on the social questions of our time. You're invited to come as you are, think and feel out loud and leave with a wide open heart and some new friends.

MEET THE ARTISTS

CHIEKO is a cellist, composer, vocalist and interdisciplinary artist from Amsterdam with Brazilian and Japanese roots. Her distinctive way of improvising with cello and voice has taken her across Europe, Asia and South America, including EuroJazz Festival Mexico, the Concertgebouw and the Bimhuis. She was Young Artist in Focus at the Cello Biennale and New Creator at Grachtenfestival, and won the Dias Latinos Award with CHIEKO COLLECTIVE. In 2025, Keep an Eye Foundation and Grachtenfestival named her "Exceptional Talent, Jazz Gem." Her debut album Aventuras was released in 2025. In addition to the cello, she also plays the rabeca, a traditional Brazilian fiddle.

SOPHIA KAI is a musician and writer of Greek, Sri Lankan and East African heritage whose work explores the mysteries, contradictions and beauty of the human experience, encouraging sovereignty and liberation from the systems that constrain integrity, both inwardly and socially. Drawing on her heritage, nomadic upbringing and spiritual lineage, she invites a more deliberate relationship with art, rooted in sustained listening rather than fast consumption. Sophia performs internationally across Europe, Asia and the America, with an upcoming tour in India and Sri Lanka, and works in partnership with humanitarian and environmental organisations in each region she visits. Current initiatives include a collaboration with Women for Wolves in Sacramento, California, supporting Indigenous-led advocacy and wildlife conservation, and an international fundraising campaign with MATW Project to rebuild a hospital in Gaza.

For both artists, the stage is a place to amplify voices that need to be heard. They share a belief that art is as inward as it is outward: a practice of listening deeply to oneself, to lineage and to the body as well as a responsibility to the world beyond the room. The same attention that turns a song inward, toward grief, longing and memory, turns it outward, toward the land, the people and the struggles of our time.

By the end of this magical night, strangers feel less like strangers... and that's the point.
