SOTERIA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION offers a 6 month and 12 month program to previously incarcerated men that includes housing, education, job training, job placement, affirmation, and advocacy.

During the first 30 days, we help interns obtain their IDs, we set goals, and we line up the services needed to meet those goals. We provide job training through our social enterprise, SOTERIA AT WORK, that uses carpentry to teach tangible and soft job skills. After the first 30 days has been completed, we either help to place our interns in a job in the community or we hire them to work for our wood shop - depending on their preference. Men in our program journal daily and attend Bible Study weekly. They take financial literacy classes and have the opportunity to enroll in a matching savings program. When men stay with us at least 30 days, they succeed. Only 7% of the men we have served over the past 5 years returned to prison.

SOTERIA builds community. We surround our interns with support services and then guide them through the process of rebuilding their lives. Soteria houses up to 16 men at a time, but our reach extends far beyond that - into every child, every spouse, every loved one of the one previously incarcerated; into every mentor, every penpal, every staff person, and every volunteer.
