Do you LOVE singing? Does music make you HAPPY? Do you want to bring JOY into care homes?
We are super excited to start a new project, taking singing into Care Homes across Essex, The Midlands, Kent and London. We know that residents will love singing along to our songs, along with you lovely TINY Sing members.
There are so many benefits with bringing music and movement into care homes.:
1. It improves residents’ mental health 😊Music, singing, and social interaction can help reduce feelings of loneliness and depression among older adults. Many residents feel happier and more engaged when children visit because it brings energy and joy into the care home.
2. Music can trigger memories 🎶Songs and dancing can help older people—especially those with conditions like Dementia or Alzheimer's disease—recall memories from earlier in life. Familiar music often stimulates conversation and emotional responses.
3. It creates meaningful social connections 🤝Interacting with children helps residents feel valued and connected to the wider community. It can reduce social isolation and give residents something positive to look forward to.
4. Children learn empathy and respect 🌱Spending time with older adults helps children understand aging and develop compassion, patience, and communication skills with people from different generations.
5. Physical movement can support wellbeing 💃Simple dancing or movement to music encourages gentle exercise, which can help with mobility, balance, and overall physical health for residents. These activities are often used in care homes because they combine music, movement, and social interaction, all of which support both emotional and physical wellbeing for residents.
