MOONFISH feat. special guest ALEX HITCHCOCK

One of SoundCellar’s favourite gigs in 2024 involved Maria Chiara Argirò on keys. We are therefore very much looking forward to welcoming her back to The Grasshopper, this time in the international Moonfish project.

MOONFISH, the collaborative project of Maria Chiara Argirò and Riccardo Chiaberta, merges electronic beats and alternative rock with jazz improvisation. Their setup blends keyboards and synths with drums, bass synth, and electronics. Both musicians are prominent figures in London’s jazz and electronic music scenes, having worked with artists such as Rosie Turton, Liran Donin, Jamie Leeming, Dugong, Bruno Heinen, and These New Puritans.

For this special occasion, Moonfish will feature another SoundCellar favourite, the stellar saxophonist Alex Hitchcock, expanding the duo’s interplay and sonic palette into an amazing trio.

Drawing on influences such as Aaron Parks (an undoubted SoundCellar ‘legend’), Kneebody and Bonobo, their music stands out for its balance between earthy grooves and dreamy, ethereal melodies. They will present music from their recent EP Leaving, along with new songs, exploring intimate dialogues that may build to intense explosions!
