The Sound Studies Book Club is an independent, care-centred space for reading, listening and conversing about sound. Each month we choose a sound studies text — a book chapter, journal article, poem or artist statement — and share it at least two weeks in advance.
Once the text is circulated, we meet in person (usually in Hastings) for our monthly gathering: a chance to connect in the flesh, with care, curiosity and common ground.
Our discussions use frameworks that centre listening and openness over traditional academic debate. These frameworks are slowly evolving into a growing collection of scores for dialoguing sound — experimental scripts that reimagine how we listen and speak together about sound.
